Sennheiser unveiled the HD 490 PRO studio headphones at NAMM 2024, catering to music production professionals. The headphones, available in two versions starting at $399, come with two types of ear pads to suit different sound preferences. Additionally, buyers receive a complimentary lifetime license for the dearVR MIX-SE plugin.
At the NAMM Show 2024, Sennheiser showcased the HD 490 PRO reference studio headphones, designed for tasks like producing, mixing, and mastering. These headphones feature an open-back design for accurate sound reproduction and offer two ear pad options: velour for a warmer sound and fabric for a neutral response, allowing users to tailor their experience based on stage production preferences.
Practicality meets innovation with machine-washable ear pads, simplifying maintenance. The headphones boast a patented cable coil structure to minimize unwanted noise transmission on accidental contact with desks or clothing. Additionally, a braille texture on the headband fork aids in distinguishing left and right sides, especially useful in low-light conditions.
To enhance the package, Sennheiser includes a free lifetime license for the dearVR MIX-SE plugin by Dear Reality. This audio software provides a virtual mixing environment, simulating various listening environments, making it valuable for professionals in need of reliable reference monitoring without access to multiple studio setups. Existing owners of Sennheiser’s open-back studio headphones can benefit from tuned presets included in the program.
The HD 490 PRO series is now available in two variants: the standard HD 490 PRO at $399 and the HD 490 PRO Plus at $479, offering additional accessories like a 3 m cable, a transport case, and an extra fabric headband pad.
